The challenge of the Malina Loft project, a loft apartment across Tompkins Square Park in the heart of
the East Village, was the manipulation of the desired elements of a loft (high ceilings, open,
flexible spatial possibilities) into a loft with distinct spatial definition.
The client was eager to not only transform their loft, but to explore the merging of new materials and
new design options to accommodate their specific social and functional needs.
