An exploration of possibilities for a wall/relief fireplace surround with a built-in seating and storage unit for a house
located upstate New York. The challenge here was to create a unique solution without disrupting the existing living
area. With the fireplace located in the midst of a long window wall looking out to a deep forest, the decision was
made to intepret the relief as the 'ninth window'. Investigating densities of leaves, we explored subdivided surfaces
and geometries and interpreted a new pattern that will be CNC'd onto high-density foam and set flush in the wall.
